Online Test Session Information and Booking

How our Online Marine Licence Course Works

There are two parts:-

  1. Videos / Presentation / Practice questions – for you to do at home on your computer.
  2. Online Test session on Zoom at home on your Computer / Laptop / iPad

Our home learning consists of approximately  3 hours of online learning at your leisure, followed by an online ZOOM testing session. (1.5 hours allowed for this)

IMPORTANT: The certificate is not digital and therefore CANNOT be emailed to you.  After you have passed the test, your STV Certificate will be mailed to you either by normal or Express post, or you can collect it anytime from the office in Mt Martha. This certificate must be taken to a VicRoads office by yourself and pay either a 1 or 5 year fee to VicRoads. 

What Do I Need?

You will need an electronic device for your learning material and a device such as a Laptop or Computer with a Camera (or an iPad with a mobile) for the testing session.

Identification required

A driver’s or L licence is ideal, or 100 points of ID made up of a Passport OR  Birth Certificate PLUS  Medicare or school ID.

Learning Material

Once you have registered online for a testing session and paid with a Credit Card or PayPal, you will IMMEDIATELY get access to the learning material via an email sent to the registered email address. You can access this as often as necessary leading up to the test session.

Cost

Marine Boat: $140 Inc GST

Marine Boat with JetSki endorsement : $140 Inc GST

Restricted Boat Licence (12 to 15 year old): $140 Inc GST

PWC endorsement only (you must already have a boat licence): $90 Inc GST.

Note: Please choose a booking date that will give you ample time to learn the material provided. A day or two is great, but a week can be better.

Once you have finished the test

Please note that the certificate is NOT digital and, therefore, needs to be posted to you. It can be posted by normal or Express post, or you or a representative can collect it from the office pickup box located in Mt Martha at any time. This certificate MUST be taken to VicRoads with the ID supplied at the test session and upon your enrollment.

Knowing this, please take into account the postage delivery time when you need to obtain your certificate.

What happens during the online testing session

  • The session will be on your computer, so you need to have access to a laptop or computer with a camera and some basic computer skills. If needed, you can have someone in your house help you get set up.
  • We can help you connect to the Zoom session, which is emailed to you before the test.
  • Choose one that is a couple of days, a week, or 10 days away —— allowing you sufficient time to complete the 3 online learning modules (videos, handbook, and sample practice questions).
  • The session incorporates a quick review of the syllabus, and then testing commences through a link provided within Zoom. It is multiple-choice and self-paced, with results provided on completion.
  • If you record a fail, you can resit the test at the same session or choose to resit it at a later time. There is no additional cost to re-sit the test.
  • The boat licence test is a 30-question multiple choice test – you need to get 26 correct.
  • If you require the PWC endorsement, you then proceed to a 15-question multiple-choice test – you need to 13 correct.  You need to be 15+ to sit for the PWC endorsement. Please note at 15 you can sit and pass the test but WILL NOT be endorsed until 16 years of age.
  • Remember  – our STV  certificate is  NOT YOUR LICENCE  — please take it to VicRoads after obtaining it.

Change of testing date

  • If you need to change your testing session date, call the office, and this can be arranged easily.

You will receive an email with a link and password to your home learning, which includes videos, presentations and practice questions.

Do the Online Learning

This is the easy part. At your leisure at home, go through the videos and presentations, which make learning all the rules and regulations very easy.
Test your knowledge at home by trying some practice test questions. All of this takes about 2-3 hrs of your time at your leisure.

Join the Zoom test on the test date you have booked in for

On the day of your booked licence test date, you will receive;
a text reminder

Pick a Date, Book, Pay, and the learning material will be emailed to you.
